Healthy Snack Alternative for Kids: Miso Pea Dip Recipe

When you have kids, you are always on the hunt for healthy snacks to feed them. Since I been working in the health and wellness field for over 20 years, I am always trying to pass on snack ideas to parents in an effort to teach their kids the importance of nutrition and a healthy, balanced diet. With that in mind, I hope you enjoy the below dip recipe. Its great to set out when the kids come home from school with fresh cut veggies or whole wheat pita pieces. Cucumbers and carrots are my favorites. Definitely a lot tastier and healtier alternative to fat and sugar laden snacks for children that are currently in the marketplace.

Miso Pea Dip

Ingredients

8 oz. silken tofu (1/2 block)

3 tbs. mellow white miso

1/2 cup brown rice vinegar

8 oz. green peas at room temperature

Onion powder

Garlic powder

Ginger power

Instructions:

  1. Toss all the ingredients except the peas in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
  2.  Add peas gradually.
  3. Adjust spices to taste.
  4. Add more brown rice vinegar for a thinner consistency or more tofu for a thicker consistency.
